One Stop Counter Shop carries all of the required products for your countertop surface, and are able to help you maintain your countertops, if needed. For your convenience, we can add you to our Regular Maintenance Calendar, where we will give you a call when your countertop requires maintenance.
Laminate Countertops are a popular choice for customers, as they are very affordable and come in a variety of colours and patterns.
Maintenance: To clean, use a soft sponge or a rag. Rough cleaning tools such as steel wool may leave permanent scratches on your countertop.
For stains, mix baking soda and water and apply to affected area. After a few minutes, wipe the solution off for a restored laminate surface.
Granite Countertops are extremely popular, as they are durable and stain resistant. They are naturally beautiful and add elegance to the space.
Maintenance: Granite Countertops are only stain resistant when properly sealed. The deeper the sealer penetrates, the better it will resist stains and keep out bacteria. Re-sealing should be done ever 6-12 months, depending on the porosity of your countertop.
It's important to only use cleaning products specifically designed for your surface. Water and a mild application of dishwashing detergent will often lift stains from natural stone and restore the look of your countertop. If dirt begins to collect in the crevasses, use a soft bristled toothbrush to remove.
Marble Countertops are made from metamorphic rock and contain carbon in crystal form as well as veins of mineral deposits.
Maintenance: Marble Countertops require daily maintenance. Wipe up spills immediately with a clean, damp cloth and use a cleaner formulated specifically for marble. Anything acidic will take the polished finish off the surface.
Eco-friendly (Recycled) Countertops are becoming increasingly popular as customers strive to be more eco-friendly. Recycled products are imbedded in a clear or coloured resin, making these countertops a beautiful and unique addition to your home.
Maintenance: Eco-friendly Countertops are made from stain-resistant polymers that are easy to clean with a damp cloth or paper towel. For more resistant stains, use a non-abrasive cleaning pad and glass cleaner.
Concrete Countertops are a unique way to add character into your space. They are smooth and can be tinted, stamped and stained to create a beautifully finished product.
Maintenance: Concrete Countertops are very susceptible to stains, and require regular maintenance similar to Granite Countertops. They must be sealed regularly to protect the surface and make it easier to clean.
Butcher Block Countertops are made from grain ends of various woods, which are then glued together to form the butcher block pattern.
Maintenance: Wood countertops need to be sealed when produced and installed, and require periodic sealing over the years to prevent bacteria and moisture from penetrating the wood, which could cause the pieces to warp and separate. Be sure to wipe up spills immediately, and avoid using bleach or abrasive cleaners.
Exotic Gemstone Countertops may be more expensive than other options, but they are certainly one-of-a kind! With a variety of beautiful and unique options available, you'll be able to customize your countertop and bring your vision for the space to life.
Maintenance: Gemstone Countertops are nonporous, and can be cleaned with regular detergents. They are heat resistant and do not require sealing.
Porcelain Countertops are used most often for bathroom fixtures due to their waterproof nature, but can be used as kitchen counters as well.
Maintenance: The glaze on the porcelain produces a waterproof surface that is very easy to clean. Warm-water cleanup or wiping with a damp cloth is all that is usually required to maintain a clean, hygienic surface. They are also more resistant to harsh chemicals than other surfaces.
Solid Surface Countertops are made from a synthetic material that has been in use since the early 20th century. The material is consistent throughout, including the colouring. The versatility and durability of solid surface countertops makes them a popular choice for many homeowners.
Maintenance: Solid Surface Countertops are considered very low maintenance. All that is required for clean up is a damp cloth. For more stubborn stains, use mild soap mixed in water.
Quartz Countertops are an engineered stone made from quartz crystals and a resin binder, giving it the look of natural stone without it being high maintenance.
Maintenance: Quartz is made with stain-resistent polymers that are easy to clean with a damp cloth or paper towel. Any spills should be wiped up before they dry onto the surface. For more resistant stains, use a non-abrasive cleaning pad and glass cleaner.
Reclaimed Wood Countertops are an eco-friendly option that pairs well with traditionally styled homes. This material provides rich, stunning beauty to the space, and is available in a variety of styles and colours.
Maintenance: Due to wood's porus nature, it's important that all spills are wiped up immediately to prevent the liquid from seeping in. To clean, spray a dedicated wood cleaner onto a sponge and wipe surface gently. Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach as they will damage the wood.
Quartzite is a naturally occurring metamorphic rock, created when sandstone is subjected to extreme heat and pressure caused by tectonic plate compression in the crust of the Earth. It is a harder material than Granite and is very durable and heat-resistent.
Maintenance: Quartzite Countertops must be sealed before use and re-sealed once or twice a year. Without a proper seal, stains can penetrate into the stone. Like other natural stone countertops, it's important to only use cleaning chemicals specifically designed for your surface, or a mild dishwashing detergent to lift stains.
Tile Countertops are offered in a variety of styles, colours and shapes, allowing you to create a unique and customized countertop for your home. Please note that Tile Countertops are usually installed by the owner, however, One Stop Counter Shop can help you contact an installer if needed.
Maintenance: The grout between the tiles needs to be sealed regularly to prevent staining issues. To clean, use a mild soap mixed in water.
Stainless Steel Countertops provide a sleek, contemporary look to your home. Though they are found mainly in commercial applications, they are now used regularly in homes as well.
Maintenance: It is extremely important to never leave water on the surface of this countertop, as it will leave spots on the surface. Only use stainless steel cleaners that are designed to remove smudges. Household cleaners like soap can be used if necessary, but must be rinsed away entirely, then dried completely when finished.
Cultured Marble is a blend of stone particles and fibreglass resins that are combined with pigments to produce a wide range of colours and realistic, natural looking patterns. This material is only used in bathroom applications.
Maintenance: Wipe up any spills immediately to avoid stains from forming. When cleaning your cultured marble countertop, make sure the surface is always wet or it could scratch. Clean by spraying an all-purpose liquid cleaner and wiping with a cloth.
